Dutch Wonderland

A few weekends ago we introduced Seth (and Sarah) to Dutch Wonderland, the pride of Amish Country in Lancaster. As you will notice in the following pictures, Seth conducted himself in an acceptable manner fitting for a visit to an amusement park. I was concerned about whether or not he would sit still long enough for each ride to take its course, but Seth rose to the challenge and met our strict desire for him to enjoy himself.
Seth's first ride was the Carousel, which he rode with pride. In fact he would have stayed on another round if he didn't see a big red costumed character he mistakenly identified as Elmo. Seth's interaction with the costumed characters was one of the highlights of the trip. His favorite was the Reeses Pieces character, who he danced with, led around by the finger, and kissed many times. Seth's dancing exhibition definitely put to shame any efforts by the other kids. We'll see if he gets let back in to Amish Country.
My personal favorite ride was the Big Foot Trucks, where I got to share the back seat with another sweaty dad. I tried to squeeze in next to Seth at first but the ride attendant swiftly reprimanded my attempt to allow more riders to take part.
Sarah would agree that watching Seth have the time of his life in the water park area was worth the price of admission (even if the tickets were free : ). Seth ran from station to station exploring new ways of getting soaked. His saggy swim diaper added to the effect. He would follow the older kids up stairs to await the dumping of a giant bucket. This bucket would pour water out with enough pressure to flatten Seth but he would take the water beating, start heading down the stairs to regroup, and then turn around to go back for more. A true glutton for punishment/fun.
Our only hardship of the day was prying Seth away from the water area. Oh wait, that and the fact that Seth's swim diaper was leaking a juicy number two all the way to the changing area. Yes, treasure every moment.
