We've had some warm weather, but yesterday's quick trip to Ocean City made it official. Summer is here. The past few years the Fennell family (including 8 grandchildren, 6 parents, and 2 grandparents) has spent a week together at the shore. This year with the arrival of Molly we decided not to brave it. We experienced vacation with a newborn a few years ago with Seth and ever since then Mike has had no interest in vacationing with an infant. Yesterday I decided to crash the family vacation which only consisted of the Richards and Mike's parents this year. Seth, Molly and I left the house at 8am and returned home at 11:45 pm. It was a lot of driving, but worth it. Molly hates her car seat so this was an experiment to see how well she'd travel. The verdict? Not well. She screamed for at least 50% of the ride there. On the way home she and Seth slept like babies (should)! It was great to join Mike's family. They are wonderful. We joined them for lunch at the beach house and then hit the beach. Mike's mom (Karen) was more than willing to stay home with Molly so that made it pretty easy. We walked to the beach with the Richard's and stayed there until dinner time. The kids dug holes in the sand, Scott built a cool sand castle, we found a crab and lots of crab parts, and we played in the ocean. After dinner we walked on the boardwalk. Molly was in the Baby Bjorn Seth walked while reluctantly holding my hand. He was in his element and especially liked looking at all of the different figures on the minituare golf courses (The pirate with a gun and the shark were amazing to him). He ended his walk on the boardwalk with cherry Rita's Italian Ice. We were in the car by 9:20, and except for the one time in Ocean City where I came across a "roundabout" and couldn't figure out what my GPS was telling me to do, the ride was peaceful. Today I was wiped out and thankfully the kids were too. We all had naps and had a great day. I even managed to do 4 loads of laundry with the new washer that was delivered while we were away. Sheryl has most of the pictures on her camera but I have a few to share below.
